Hi! I’m Beth, a nothing fancy, saved-by-grace sinner, and I love to write stories — my stories, my characters’ stories, and God’s stories. I’m a wife, a momma to our son (plus his awesome lady) and our daughter (plus her awesome guy). And I love to connect with women.
I’m not an expert in theology, fashion, philosophy, cooking, deep thinking, or even writing and literature which I have studied and taught for years.
I am a learner, a very slow learner because I do everything way too fast. (I’m working on that.) I don’t always follow the recipe. I skim through some of my Bible reading. Or I skip it and then feel that hole. At any given time, I may be reading or listening to five different books depending on where I am sitting, walking, driving. I watch too much Food Network and HGTV. I clench my teeth when my kitchen counters are full of real junk — none of it food. I can mindlessly eat my way through an entire bag of red licorice or Peanut M&Ms while I’m reading or messing around online.
Yeah. Real guilt. Real stomach ache. Real mess.
Thankfully, God has given me real grace.
I hang on to the verse I chose years ago when I publicly professed my faith. (And that was after shakily reciting a long catechism explanation.)
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God . . .” Ephesians 2:8.
Nowadays, I always add the next two verses. “[It is] not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
